December is upon us and the snow has started to fall, and many of us are trying to squeeze in those last few outdoor rides before retiring to the warmth of our homes for winter training. Winter is a great time to reflect on your past season and set new goals to get the most out of yourself as an athlete. These times are among the most important in an athlete's year, so take some time to create your action plan. This December 2014 edition of our newsletter highlights events and programs you can use this winter to set yourself up for a great season of racing in 2015.
Triathlon Swim Clinic - December 13A swim clinic for triathletes, by triathletes. The date of the Ignition Fitness Triathlon Swim Clinic is fast approaching so be sure to sign up soon! Be sure to sign up for our triathlon swim clinic, taking place at Trinity Community Centre in Toronto on December 13th, 2014, and learn from a variety of proven coaches and instructors. The clinic will take place at Trinity Community Centre in Toronto on December 13th and consist of a one hour of classroom session followed by an hour in the pool with our coaching staff. Big Training DaysLast winter's popular Big Training Days have returned for the winter of 2014/15. Just like the swim clinic, the first training day session is coming quickly. Our first BTD of the 2014/15 winter training season is Sunday, Decemeber 14th, 2014 with subsequent dates in January, February and March. Join us for triathlon- and duathlon-specific group workouts with a bike + run + stretch/cooldown focus. All athletes are welcome, and this year we've partnered with the Toronto Triathlon Club for two of the dates. Space is limited so book your spot soon! New Coaching ServicesIn addition to our one-on-one coaching packages, Ignition Fitness is now offering a full line of alternative coaching options to suit all athletes and all budgets. Skechers Athlete TeamThe application process for the 2015 Skechers Athlete Team has come and gone. A huge thanks to all of those that applied and we've already begun reaching out to applicants. We'll be announcing the team in January's newsletter. Congratulations to Greg Hallman of New Dundee, ON. He won our Athlete Team contest and is going to be awarded with a prize pack including a pair of Skechers Performance Running Shoes.
Athlete UpdatesAfter a busy 2014 season, many Ignition Fitness athletes have been taking it easy in November before gearing up for a 2015 season that promises to be even better. Those who finished their seasons late have been taking some well-deserved rest, while those with earlier conclusions are just wrapping up their first hard training block of the 2015 season. Going forward, we will be featuring our athletes periodically, so you can get to know the team before meeting them in person in 2015. Keep your eyes peeled!
