Great news... we're back! After a few months away from the newsletter game, the Ignition Fitness team is back in it and excited to bring you the news of November. November is a great time to dust off your cross bikes, mountain bikes and trail shoes, and have some fun doing something a little different after a season of triathlon, duathlon or run training. Ignition Fitness is entering some exciting times, with lots of new and exciting services to bring to you and help you be the best athlete you can be. This month's newsletter will preview our upcoming triathlon swim clinic and Big Training Days, give you an update on our athlete team and new partnerships with Skechers and HEAL, highlight our new coaching options - including private swim lessons - and introduce two new coaches who have joined the team since our last newsletter.
Triathlon Swim Clinic - December 13A swim clinic for triathletes, by triathletes. Be sure to sign up for our triathlon swim clinic, taking place at Trinity Community Centre in Toronto on December 13th, 2014. The clinic will consist of one hour of class time followed by one hour in the pool with our top notch coaching staff. Space is limited so book your spot soon! Big Training DaysThey're back! Last winter's popular Big Training Days will be returning for the winter of 2014/15! Join us for triathlon- and duathlon-specific group workouts with a bike + run + stretch/cooldown focus. Two of these events will be held in partnership with the Toronto Triathlon Club. Skechers Athlete TeamThe Athlete Team program is back for 2015 and is bigger and better than ever! We've partnered with Skechers Performance to give all of our Athlete Team members two FREE pairs of Skechers Performance running shoes. New Coaching ServicesIn addition to our one-on-one coaching packages, Ignition Fitness is now offering a full line of alternative coaching options to suit all athletes and all budgets. Private Swim LessonsLooking for a private swimming lesson? Want to share a swimming lesson with a friend? Book soon because we're almost sold out!!! For that past month we've been offering private swim lessons and will be taking bookings till the end of May, 2015. New CoachesSince our last newsletter we've welcomed two new coaches to the team, Paolina Allen and Hector Rodriguez (bio page coming soon). Paolina has been competing for years as a pro triathlete and cyclist and joins Roger as another stellar coaching option for triathletes, duathletes, runners and cyclists. Hector is a former Venezuelan National Swim Team member and Olympic hopeful and is always one of the first athletes out of the water at his triathlon races. He brings his wealth of knowledge and experience in the water to the team as a swim coach. Join us in welcoming both Paolina and Hector to the team!
HEAL PartnershipWe’ve teamed up with HEAL to bring our athletes nutritional services that can be added on to any coaching package or purchased a la carte. Services include goal-setting, training nutrition, race day nutrition, and troubleshooting current nutrition plans. Click here to learn more!
Athlete UpdatesIgnition Fitness athletes have had an excellent 2014 year of triathlon, duathlon, running and cycling. Here are just a few athletes' accomplishments from this past season:
- Duathlete Darren Cooney has been busy in September and October, following up a strong 5th place finish at the Ontario Duathlon Championships with a new half marathon PB at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
- This past August, Coach Roger Hospedales was joined by 5 athletes (Susanna Duerr, Jason Ng, Lindsay Smith, Hong Vuong, and Rommel Domingo) representing Ignition Fitness at Ironman Mont Tremblant, where 4 recording new personal bests.
- A large Ignition Fitness contingent raced the inaugural Barrelman Triathlon in Niagara Falls this September, led by Coach Paolina Allen's 2nd place finish, and Hector Rodriguez's 7th place finish. Registration for the 2015 edition is now open!
- Hector then headed to Panama City at the beginning of November for Ironman Florida where, despite the cancellation of his favourite discipline (the swim), he recorded personal bests on the bike and the run to cap off his season.
