Hi Tom! Great swimming with you and thanks again for joining us. Here’s your original, unedited swim video. I’ll post the swim video analysis on this same page when it’s done.
The first thing that I noticed is that the timing of your stroke is a bit off. I want you to focus on starting each stroke sooner so that one arm is always helping to propel you forwards. Secondly, I want you to try and enter fingers first (followed by a high elbow). This will allow you to have a better catch in the water, increased paddle size, and more efficient stroke. Going along with this principle I want you to maintain that high elbow throughout the catch, and the rest of your stroke. I want you to focus on rolling over the top of the stroke (over the barrel) as you swim. This will increase your paddle size and really increase the efficiency of your stroke. Lastly, I want you to focus on rolling from your hips (from your core) and keeping your body in a centerline as you swim. Right now you tend to roll from your shoulders, which causes your body to snake through the water.
